The Crinan Hotel is a magnificently eccentric hotel in Argyll on Scotland's beautiful west coast. The Hotel is situated on the waterfront at Loch Crinan 6.5 miles from Lochgilphead and 35 miles from Oban.
We look forward to welcoming you back to the Crinan Hotel in 2021. We plan to re-open the hotel for meals and for guests to stay at the hotel from 1st March 2021. Book online via this link or phone reception.

All of the hotel bedrooms have breathtaking views of the sea, some have private balconies and each room is dedicated to a famous Scottish artist. All rooms have fresh flowers and a selection of Arran Aromatics toiletries in the bathroom.
Located at the north end of the Crinan Canal, Crinan has been a fishing port for over 200 years. It is unique and unspoilt. Jumbo prawns (langoustines) are landed 20 metres from the hotel kitchen at 17.00 hours in time for dinner. The Westward Restaurant (Michelin Recommended in 2018) serves fine and exciting fare. The Crinan Seafood Bar is deliciously more informal. Scottish beef, hill lamb, lobsters and Colonsay oysters and locally sourced organic produce are served in both. Lock 16 our famous Seafood restaurant which has won many accolades including best Seafood Restaurant in the UK, is open during the summer on Friday and Saturday evenings for dinner and for private parties at anytime. Another popular option is to have fish and chips in our informal bar, The Pub, which is next door to the Seafood Bar. The seafood is caught by small local boats and if you would like to get to sea yourself boat trips to the Isle Jura and the Gulf of Corryvreckan offer the chance to spot sea eagles, seals, minke whales and much more. Classic yacht charters can also be arranged.
There is a wide variety of things to do at Crinan and in the surrounding area. You can enjoy stunning walks, cycling and mountain biking, kayaking and horseriding and this is the heart of Dalriada, Historic Scotland! There is an astonishing number of prehistoric standing stones and carved rocks just up the road at Kilmartin Glen. Golfers can head for Machrihanish Championship Links Course, an easy drive from Crinan. The Hotel also has a Secret Garden featured in Scotland’s Garden Scheme.
The hotel is ideally located for cyclists on 'The Caledonia Way' - National Route 78 of the National Cycle Network passes less than 2 miles from the Crinan Hotel and the detour to get to us is easy cycling along the level, car-free canal towpath.
Crinan has become a magnet for many of Scotland’s top artists who stay, paint and exhibit regularly. Frances Macdonald, who exhibits at the Portland Gallery in London and the Scottish Gallery in Edinburgh, is the resident artist and proprietor of the Hotel. Her son Ross Ryan who shows internationally, is also represented. Painting Holidays are now available at the Crinan Hotel and Art Master Classes and professional guidance can be arranged.
